Micro-needling and PRP Treatments
Micro-needling works by using a mechanized micro-needling pen to create tiny punctures in the skin which triggers the body to create collagen, elastin, new capillaries and new skin cells. The vibration of the micro-needling pen reduces the pain and discomfort of the treatment. You numb for half an hour with a topically applied cream. Most patients find it tolerable and often, less uncomfortable than lasers. Patients will be given a home care regimen with detailed instructions before they leave. Consultation is required. Micro-needling is not appropriate for patients with Melasma as it can push the pigment deeper into the skin.
The Candela Exceed device offers enhanced treatment versatility as the first dual-indicated, FDA-cleared medical micro-needling system for the treatment of both facial wrinkles and facial acne scar reduction.
Each treatment session delivers powerful results with minimal downtime and is less abrasive and quieter than other microneedling systems.
PRP will also be offered as an add-on at Helios Laser Center. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. While the patient is numbing, their blood is drawn in to a sophisticated, sterile collection system and then centrifuged to separate out the platelet rich plasma. The PRP will be withdrawn from the collection system in a sterile fashion and will then be applied to the microneedled area AFTER the procedure is over. PRP is full of growth factors and nutrients which enhance the treatment. A highly advanced centrifuge, especially designed for handling PRP, has been purchased.

PRP is also used for the restoration of thinning hair. It is created in the same way as for Micro-needling, but it is just injected into the scalp. A series of 3 treatments are needed, done at 4-5-week intervals. Then touch ups every 4-6 months thereafter. Consultation is required to determine suitability for treatment.
